The volume 32 (LVI) brings forth five studies focusing on history of early modern philosophy, literature and knowledge. Aneta Kubalová (Palacký University Olomouc) analyses innovatively thirteen sermons of the Saxon Lutheran theologian Matthias Hoë von Hoënegg from the period of the Thirty Years War. Martin Žemla (Palacký University Olomouc) investigates the metaphysics of light in the works of Valentin Weigel. Stefan Heßbrüggen (Higher School of Economics Moscow) examines into the little-known controversy over the conception of philosophy between Otto Casmann and Daniel Hoffmann at the turn of the seventeenth century. Jana Černá (University of West Bohemia in Pilsen) treats the topic of human dignity as developed in the Ibero-American literature of the sixteenth century. Hana Ferencová (Palacký University Olomouc) concentrates on the travelogue of John Swinton who visited, among others, the Lands of the Bohemian Crown in the first half of the eighteenth century. The volume 32 also includes reviews of recent Czech and international literature on early modern intellectual history.
